January update

We started the new year right.  Jan 1 snuggles!

TapInfluence hosted the annual “After the Holidays Party.”  This time it was a 1920’s murder mystery dinner. (Oddly enough, the murder occured in 2011, and the detectives were very modern in dress and speach.  No one is exactly sure why we dressed up like the 20’s. Fun?) But the best part is, I WON!  I solved the crime.  Yay me. I worked hard because I was under the impression that the winner got $100.  Well…the winner got “prizes worth up to $100.”  Which amounted to a mug and some improv tickets.  Needless to say, I was a little disappointed.

Kid Dates Jan 2016 Edition.  Halle and I skiied at Eldora and got caught in a blizzard.  We tried to warm up with some hot chocolate, but it was the 2nd worst hot chocolate we’ve ever had. (The first being at a gas station in Boston when we got stuck in the hurricane rain after watching fireworks)

I got to take Blake on his very first Alone Date.  We had planned to go play racketball, then head to the bookstore to get a new Andrew Lost, and then to dinner.  Well….when we got to the Community Center he threw an absolute fit becuase he had boots on and not tennis shoes.  He refused to go inside.  After much pleading, begging, threatening, I gave up and we headed to the book store.  He promptly fell asleep on the drive and so I sat for 30 min in my car in the parking lot of Barnes and Noble while he finished his nap.  They didn’t carry the book he wanted, but luckily we found a substitute (Battle Bugs).  After dinner at Chic-fli-a I decided we both needed a treat.  Coldstone saved our date.  Here’s hoping for a smoother date next month!

Josh and Rusty had a blast at Dave and Busters on their date and Josh won more tickets than he ever has before.

We (and by we, I mean Rusty and I) love to take Sunday walks, and the kids begrudginly come along.  There is usually some sort of bribe or threat attached to this Sunday ritual.

The kids all had a day off school so we met Kami and Crew at the Children’s Museum.  Everyone had a great time, even though it closed waaaay earlier than we were anticipating. 

Blake loves cantaloupe.  Seriously.  He could eat an entire melon in one sitting.

I PAINTED MY PIANO.  I really like how it turned out!  It was quite the ordeal, and it is FAR from perfect, but I’m glad I did it.

Some Sunday morning fort building.  I might be the only person on the planet who perfers 1pm church, but I just love it!  Big breakfast, fun lazy mornings….what’s not to like?

We got invited to Hogan Lovells Family night at the Denver Country Club.  It was fun to spend the evening with the Toys.  We had a delicious dinner and an EPIC hockey match.  And the boys loved playing platform tennis. 

Basketball is in full swing.  Josh’s season ended this month and Blakes began. 

The weather had been warming up a bit but snow was lingering forever.  So,  Roger went out and shoveled the tennis courts.  That’s dedication.  He and Rusty played in short sleeves and t-shirts that morning.

Here was our date night that evening.  We got 2-3 inches in like an hour.  Colorado weather always keeps us guessing.
