Golden Gate Canyon State Park

You may look at the pics and video of our trip and say, "Wow--looks like they had a fun time." Well.....we didn't. The pics you see recorded about 30 min of our weekend get away. And by far the best 30 min. We went up to Golden Gate Canyon State Park and stayed in a little cabin. The plan was to go snoeshoeing, sledding, and other fun winter stuff. But fate was not on our side. We'd only been out snowshoeing for about 30 min when Halle started whining to go back to the cabin. We drew it out as long as we could, then finally headed back. I was trying to lift Josh over a snowdrift on the side of the road when my snowshoes crossed and I fell to the road, Josh in arms. I broke most of his fall, but he still smacked his head on the road. And I completely twisted my knee. It was one of those totally nauseous with pain moments. Needless to say, I couldn't walk the rest of the trip. And the bathroom was not near our cabin. I took a little rest, hoping it would get better, but I spent the rest of the trip hopping from place to place. No more snowshoeing for me. BOOOOOO. AND Josh was getting a tooth and he whined and cried more often than not. AND he hated his gloves, so he'd pull them off, then he'd scream and cry b/c his hands were cold. AND, Halle had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night (like I said, the bathrooms weren't that close to us!) AND she grinds her teeth LOUDLY while she sleeps. By the time morning rolled around both Rusty and I were ready to pack up and head out, so that's exactly what we did. Rusty was a trooper, a "make the best out of a bad situation" kind of guy. I give us an A for effort and an F for execution. On the bright side, I did get to hop out to the campfire and we roasted marshmellows--Halle's favorite. It snowed in the night, which made everything BEAUTIFUL in the morning. Sure would have been fun to snowshoe in all the new powder.......
(Ok--I can't get pics to upload. I'll try again later)

Million dollar idea...ten cent finish! If I had a nickel for every time this happened to me! It's cool you recorded this though. Your kids will probably laugh at it later.

Great story. Makes me want to share our vacation horror story:

An overnight trip to Milan. The car ride was supposed to take 3 1/2 hours, but lasted 7. Luke did big business in his pants twice on the drive there. During the entire two day trip, he dirtied 5 pairs of pants and underwear.

How funny and sad! It sounds like a fun vacation - a cabin surrounded by snow. At least your kids can't say you never take them anywhere.

Tara...let me tell you where you went wrong. Snowshoeing. I don't know why people think its fun to walk around in the freezing cold snow with special shoes on. :) ha ha. Sorry though..I always feel like I am the only one with trips like that. :) Glad to know I am not. :)
