Our Little Star

A few weeks ago Halle was the "Star of the Week" at kindergarten.  For those of you who have or had kindergartners, you know what a big deal this is. Halle has been looking forward to this since the first day of school. As part of being Star of the Week, the kids get to bring home Curious George, the class stuffed monkey, and journal about his special adventures. While he was at our house George:

Went ice skating on a Daddy/Daughter/George date.

Had many sleepovers, complete with matching nightgowns.

Saw his shadow on Groundhog Day, just like Punxsutawney Phil. (BOOO for more winter!)

Halle is certainly a star at our house!  She is always quick to help, and has a contagious laugh.  She is always writing sweet notes for her family that just make our day.  We love you Halle!

Valentines Festivities

We had a fun and busy Valentines Day weekend!  It all started with the Preschool party on Thursday.  It was my turn to teach, so we had the party at our house.  The kids made Valentine Oreo suckers, ate pizza, decorated bags, and passed out Valentines.  I was also doing the oreo suckers for Halle's school class.  Joanna and Angela, being the creative ladies they are, decorated them for me.  They turned out so so cute!  Thanks gals!

I don't know what got into me--I was very crafty there for a few days. In addition to the oreo suckers and annual sugar cookies,  I made the tutu shirt Halle is wearing.  Are you proud of me?

Then came the Kindergarten Valentine Party.  With that came more candy.

Halle's kindergarten class

Saturday was date night.  Rusty and I got a babysitter for the evening, and headed down to the temple. I must confess that since being pregnant and having a newborn, we have not been in quite some time.  We finally felt like Blake was old enough to be left for the 5ish hours it takes to drive down, do a session, and drive home.  We walked up to the door, tried to pull it open, only to find it was locked.  Uhh...the temple closes at 4 on Saturdays.  It was 5:30.  SERIOUSLY????  So we went to dinner at On the Boarder and then just cruised around the mall.

This year I gave Rusty a little Valentine every day the week before the big day.  The cheesier the better.  Some of my favorites:
"After all this time I'd still CHEWS you." (attached to a packet of gum)
"Valentine, You're Dynamite. Will you make my FANTA-sy come true?" (a can of pringles wrapped to look like dynamite and a can of fanta soda)
But my favorite one you can see HERE. Scroll almost to the bottom of the post.
It was so fun to hide the Valentine in his car, laptop bag, etc.

The kids also got Valentines from both sets of Grandparents. We are  swimming in chocolate, candy, and baked goods.  We ended the day with dinner at the Loveridges. We needed a good excuse to go snuggle baby Khloee again.  She is such a doll!

Now I think I need a three day nap to recover.  (Blake too!)

Dear Hannah...

I found this note on the kitchen counter the other day, and I just couldn't throw it away without documenting the moment.  It melted my heart.

Just in case you can't read kindergarten handwriting, it says," Dear Hannah, I love you so much. You are the best Baby Doll. Love, Halle.

For the record, she has two dolls named Hannah. Big Hannah and Little Hannah.  She didn't specify WHICH Hannah this note was written for, but I took a pic of Big Hannah.

The New Love in my Life

For Christmas this year I asked for cash because I wanted to go on a shopping spree and get new clothes, shoes, etc.  Well.....three kids does not lend itself to shopping--EVER--and so my money just sat burning a hole in my wallet.  Then, I saw an awesome deal on a Nikon D3000 SLR, and I just couldn't pass it up.  An SLR camera has been on my radar screen since before Blake was born.  I took the leap, and I'm so glad I did.  I can't even tell you how much I love this camera. The images are crisp, the colors are amazing, and I can finally do close-ups! The best part is I'm only beginning to scratch the surface of what it can do. Yeaaa for good pictures.  My only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner!
